History Behind the Rudranath

After the Kurukshetra war, Pandavas visited the Rudranath temple to wash away their sins. As Lord Shiva was unhappy and deceitful over the numerous deaths in the Kurukshetra war. So he chose to stay away from the Pandavas and took the appearance of Nandi and vanished from the earth with various body pieces showing up in different locations. To please him, the Pandavas constructed temples at each location where his body parts appeared and worshipped him. Therefore this is how the Rudranath temple was constructed.
