History Behind the Lake
Deoria Tal is also recognized as “Indra Sarovar” and it was believed that the Devs (Lords) took baths in this lake. Therefore the name Devariyatal was given to it. According to Puranas, the lake is also named the “Indra Sarovar”. As per Hindu mythology, this is the lake where Pandavas stopped by Yaksha who wanted them to answer his question before drinking water from the lake.
